India batsman Manoj Tiwary was miffed with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after he said that the two-time champions failed to mention him in a throwback tweet about their Indian Premier League (IPL) triumph from 2012.

KKR took to social media on Wednesday and recalled their first-ever IPL triumph from 2012. Led by Gautam Gambhir, KKR defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final which was played on May 27.

The Kolkata-based franchise mentioned their former skipper Gambhir, top-scorer Manvinder Bisla, Brendon McCullum, all-rounder Sunil Narine and fast bowler Brett Lee.

Manoj Tiwary responded to the tweet, saying it was insulting to see KKR not mentioning him and Shakib Al Hasan in their tweet.

“Yes I, along with others have too many memories, emotions and that will remain forever but after seeing this tweet where u all forgot to mention n tag me and @Sah75official is insulting and this mrng tweet of urs will remain close to every knight Rider’s. #disappointed (sic),” Manoj Tiwary said.

KKR were swift to respond to the tweet as they made up for it, saying they would never miss their ‘special knight’ and attached a photo wherein they claimed they had mentioned Tiwary and Shakib among others.

“No way, Manoj. We would never miss tagging such a special ‘knight’ to our special night. You were, and always be a hero of that 2012 victory,” KKR responded.

KKR won their maiden IPL title in 2012 under Gautam Gambhir. One of the most followed franchises in the IPL, KKR struggled to get going under Sourav Ganguly and Brendon McCullum’s captaincy in the initial years.

However, Gambhir led KKR to two titles in a span of 3 years between 2012 and 2014.

Chasing a mammoth total of 190, KKR got past the finish line with 2 balls to spare, thanks to half centuries from Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis.

Notably, it was Manoj Tiwary who hit the winning runs in Dwayne Bravo’s final over.
